Maki Y?ko, born Yoko Fuke (?? ??), July 11 1981, is a mangaka. she has a pet dog named leo, is single and likes riding her bicycle to places. her favourite hobby is to blow soap bubbles, and has said that her best skill is to pass quickly through crowds. she debuted in 1999 with "love service!" in ribon original magazine.

well, youko maki is my favourite ribon's mangaka. she is a recent entry in the magazine but she is having a lot of success. this is because her stories are pretty fresh and in some way original and different from the common ribon standards. her drawing skills are exellent, and through all her mangas you can see her improvements, check it out from the pics below. she is definitely fashionable +)

her first famous manga was "sora sora", just one tankoubon. it deals about a girl, sorako, just arrived in a new school, and a boy, sorao. they become soon close freinds, being together bad kids. tho secretly sorako is loving him, and this seems to be a really big problem when another girl starts to approach sorao.. infact the girl is totally nasty!! (i hated her while reading the manga!!!) well, anyway, sorako is not the type of girl that let it go, so she'll have her revenge.

sora sora ch01-04.

after sora sora comes "atashi wa bambi", three tankoubon. this story deals about a weird triangole!! mai, the female main character, sen and yaezou, those two being best friends form primary school.. but you won't see sen and yaezou fight for mai, instead mai and yaezou fight each other for sen's love!!!!!! i can tell, it's really funny! mai likes sen from school first day; when yaezou recognizes it, immediatly threatens her, telling about how his love for sen is more important than hers. so begins the war! mai is an interesting character and yaezou as well, so you'll enjoy the reading. i discovered youko maki with bambi!

"aishiteruze baby", this is the manga that made her popular, most of people love it, and it's maki style in the sense that is a quite uncommon story! the protagonist is a playboy, named kippei, that for an accident suddendly has to take care of his 4 year old cousine, yuzuyu. the story shows how their relationship will improve and how he will change thanks to her. of course there are a lot of girls too! i love kippei's sister, she's the cool one!

then, finally, "star blacks", two tankoubon. yes, two. on this month's ribon, 12/2005, there was the last chapter. i really loved it, but i suppose it'wasn't popular between japanese ribon readers.. first because it's over in just 9 chapters, second because it didn't have often the first colour page, and similar stuffs... but i can understand it because it's a quite violent manga for ribon primary school girls' standards.. anyway i am translating it so go to the projects page!! ---*
